How would you describe your work?
A conglomerate of thematic investigations and personal interpretations.
I develop visual narratives and consciously mix past and present, explore stereotypes and cultural myths, often with a reference back to the private sphere.

Ein Konglomerat aus themenspezifischen Untersuchungen und persönlichen Interpretationen.
Dabei entwickle ich visuelle Erzählungen und vermische bewusst Vergangenheit und Gegenwart, erforsche Stereotypen und kulturelle Mythen, oft mit einem Rückbezug auf das Private.

Which influences have an impact on your work and which topics are of particular concern to you?
Influences are everywhere, consciously and unconsciously. My own research probably influences me the most–and looking at the works of other artists. Apart from that, there are often very subtle and spontaneous influences that arise in the everyday or while traveling, or in conversation with people. My work touches on topics such as globalization, consumerism and the mythology of people and places, where the personal invariably gets involved.
Welche Einflüsse wirken sich auf deine Kunst aus und welche Themen beschäftigen dich besonders?
Einflüsse gibt es überall, bewusst und unbewusst. Die eigene Recherche beeinflusst mich wahrscheinlich am meisten – und mir dabei Arbeiten von anderen KünstlerInnen anzusehen. Ansonsten gibt es oft sehr subtile und spontane Einflüsse, die im Alltäglichen oder auf Reisen entstehen, oder im Gespräch mit Menschen. Meine Arbeit berührt Themen wie Globalisierung, Konsum und die Mythologie von Mensch und Ort, wo sich das Persönliche stets einbringt.

How do you approach new photographs or work series? What is your method in the further process?
Everything starts with research, on a visual and textual level. This research serves as the base from which the work develops processively. Since my work is a mix of various media, the choice of medium is only made later and depends on the specific content. Each realization always refers to my own life in some way, that is, so to say, the already existing component, which is then mixed with newly developed elements.
Gibt es eine Herangehensweise, mit welcher du dich neuen Fotografien oder Arbeitsreihen annäherst? Wie ist dann deine Arbeitsweise im weiteren Prozess?
Alles fängt mit Recherche an, auf visueller und textlicher Ebene. Diese Recherche dient als Grundbaustein, aus der sich die Arbeit prozesshaft entwickelt. Da meine Arbeit ein Mix aus unterschiedlichen Medien ist, entscheidet sich die Wahl des Mediums erst etwas später und ist abhängig vom jeweiligen Inhalt.

How did you develop your personal style? How was the process up to this point?
Surely it has something to do with my confounded education - from textile design, to graphic design, cultural and social anthropology, to photography. After initially focusing mainly on the photographic medium, I realized that it often seems limiting in my execution and that I must reach out to other media as well in order to communicate what I want. This decision was liberating and very inspiring for me. I am always looking for a challenge. Staying in my comfort zone seems boring to me. Which may also be a reason why my work series sometimes vary greatly. Often, they seem to me like individual building blocks of my life that are transformed into the visual. Depending on which topics and emotions are currently occupying me, content and implementations result from this.
Wie hast du zu deinem Stil gefunden? Wie war der Prozess bis zu diesem Punkt?
Sicherlich hat es etwas mit meiner konfundierten Ausbildung zu tun - von Textildesign, zu Grafikdesign, Kultur-und Sozialanthropologie, zur Fotografie. Nachdem ich mich anfangs hauptsächlich auf das fotografische Medium konzentriert habe, hatte ich dann gemerkt, dass es in meiner Umsetzung oft limitierend erscheint und ich ebenso auf andere Medien übergreifen muss, um das Gewollte zu kommunizieren. Dieser Entschluss war befreiend und für mich selbst sehr inspirierend. Ich suche immer die Herausforderung. Mich in meiner eigenen Komfortzone zu bewegen, erscheint mir langweilig. Was auch ein Grund sein mag, warum meine Arbeitsgruppen teilweise sehr variieren. Oft erscheinen mir diese wie einzelne Bausteine meines Lebens, die ins Visuelle umgeformt werden. Je nachdem welche Themen und Emotionen mich gerade beschäftigen, ergeben sich daraus Inhalte und Umsetzungen.

My family, my friends, my independence.
Was ist dein Antrieb?
Meine Familie, meine Freunde, meine Unabhängigkeit.
